Kathleen Raine: Una poeta de modulaciones, resonancias metafísicas e intimaciones visionarias
Resumen
En el ensayo “John Donne and the Baroque Doubt” (1945) la poeta Kathleen Raine examina la poesía metafísica como reflejo de una transición entre el medioevo y la modernidad. Las reflexiones sobre la poesía metafísica, y lo que Raine describe en ella como un estado de “duda” espiritual, resultan relevantes puesto que la tensión y el equilibrio entre dos cosmovisiones que la autora destaca en Donne no son ajenos a su propia práctica poética. Desde la puesta en relación de poemas y ensayos pertenecientes a distintos momentos del proceso creativo, este artículo intenta señalar las continuidades de una voz en la poesía de Raine que aspira a encarnar la “intuición metafísica” de aunar lo eterno y lo transitorio en un movimiento trascendente de correspondencias visionarias entre el microcosmos y el macrocosmos.

Abstract:
In the essay "John Donne and the Baroque Doubt" (1945), the poet Kathleen Raine examines metaphysical poetry as reflecting the transition from the Middle Ages to Modernity. The condition of spiritual doubt that attracts and repels is relevant as it is also present in Raine's own poetic work. This article examines the progression of a voice that aspires to incarnate the "metaphysical intuition" by taking into account Raine's poems and essays at different stages of creative work. The attempt to unify the eternal and the transient reveals visionary correspondences between the microcosmic and the macrocosmic realms.
