Keyboard waste: typewriter and bureaucratic archive in contemporary Chilean literature

Abstract
The following work examines the presence of the typewriter in some works of fiction by Alejandro Zambra, Nona Fernández, Alejandra Costamagna and Miguel Lafferte. It proposes reading it as a ghostly siege of the Chilean bureaucratic archive, in which they seek to return to it and question it with a double purpose: on the one hand, to recover some of its disdained practices, such as secretarial practices (from family ties outside of paternal authority); and, on the other, to indirectly mourn the trauma that meant the cutting of the revolutionary promise by the coup d'état in the seventies, under a peculiar form of transposition that contains the residue of a social promise.
